Factors Affecting Melioidosis Prevention Behaviors of People in Ko Kut Sub district, Ko Kut District, Trat Province

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to explore (1) motivation factor level for preventing melioidosis, (2) behavioral levels for preventing melioidosis, and (3) personal and motivation factors affecting the behaviors to prevent melioidosis of the people in Ko Kut subdistrict, Ko Kut district, Trat province.This cross-sectional survey research was conducted in a sample of 204 individuals selected from all 2,180 people aged 40–60 years in Ko Kut subdistrict, using the stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been checked for content validity by experts; and its content validity and reliability values were 0.97 and 0.82, respectively. Statistical analysis was undertaken to determine frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation and linear multiple regression using the stepwise variable selection method.The results showed that, among the respondents in the subdistrict: (1) their overall level of motivation for melioidosis prevention was moderate; (2) their level of behaviors for preventing melioidosis was good; and (3) the factors significantly affecting their melioidosis prevention behaviors were age, perceived susceptibility and self-efficacy – all having a predictive value of 19.8% (p-value

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา (1) ระดับแรงจูงใจในการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิส (2) ระดับพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิส และ (3) ปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล และปัจจัยแรงจูงใจในการป้องกันโรคที่มีผลต่อพฤติกรรมการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิสของประชาชน ตำบลเกาะกูด อำเภอเกาะกูด จังหวัดตราดการศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจแบบภาคตัดขวาง ทำการศึกษาในประชากร จำนวน 2,180 คน กลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้ที่มีอายุ 40 – 60 ปี ในพื้นที่ตำบลเกาะกูด อำเภอเกาะกูด จังหวัดตราด จำนวน 204 คน จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบชั้นภูมิ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็นแบบสอบถามที่ผ่านการตรวจสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหาโดยผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิค่าความตรงทั้งฉบับคือ 0.97 และมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นของแบบสอบถามแรงจูงใจในการป้องกันโรคและพฤติกรรมการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิสเท่ากับ 0.82 วิเคราะห์โดยใช้สถิติ การแจกแจงความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการถดถอยพหุคูณเชิงเส้นด้วยวิธีการคัดเลือกตัวแปรแบบขั้นตอนผลการศึกษา พบว่า (1) ระดับแรงจูงใจในการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิส ของประชาชนตำบลเกาะกูด อำเภอเกาะกูด จังหวัดตราด ในภาพรวมอยู่ระดับปานกลาง (2) ระดับพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิสของประชาชน ตำบลเกาะกูด อำเภอเกาะกูด จังหวัดตราด อยู่ในระดับดี และ (3) ปัจจัยอายุ การรับรู้โอกาสเสี่ยงต่อการเป็นโรคเมลิออยโดสิส และการรับรู้ความสามารถของตนเองต่อการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิสมีผลต่อพฤติกรรมในการป้องกันโรค เมลิออยโดสิส โดยสามารถร่วมกันพยากรณ์พฤติกรรมการป้องกันโรคเมลิออยโดสิสของประชาชนตำบลเกาะกูด อำเภอเกาะกูด จังหวัดตราด ได้ร้อยละ 19.80 ที่นัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05
