dc.description.abstractalternative	The objectives of this research were to (1) determine the level of popular participation in local development planning, (2) examine the factors correlated to popular participation in local development planning, (3) study problems and obstacles to popular participation in local development planning, and (4) search for appropriate approaches to improve popular participation in local development planning. The sample were group consisted of 400 electors in Bang Nom Kho, Hua Wiang, Sam Ko and Chao Chet Subdistrict Municipalities. The research instrument used was a questionaire. Data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, frequency and chi’ square. The study revealed that (1) popular participation in local development planning were at moderate level. (2) Factors correlated to popular participation in local development planning were knowledge, opinion, internal motivation, information, convenience and external motivation. (3) The most important problem and obstacle to popular participation in local development planning was the lack of knowledge of local development planning. (4) The recommended approach to improve the popular participation in local development planning was to develop people’s knowledge and understanding	en_US
