The Effect of Using Jazz Chants Activities on English Pronunciation Skill of Grade 5 Students in Schools under the Primary Education Service Area Office 5 in Chiang Mai Province.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare the English pronunciation skill of Grade 5 students of Banthung Jumroeng school in Chiang Mai province before and after learning through the use of Jazz Chants activities. The research sample consisted of one classroom of 20 Grade 5 students of Banthung Jumroeng school in Chiang Mai province during the first semester of the academic year 2024, obtained by purposive sampling. The employed research instruments were 1) 9 learning management plans using jazz chants for 9 hours, and 2) an English pronunciation test. Statistics employed for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and sign test.Research finding showed that the students’ mean score of English pronunciation skill after learning by using Jazz Chants activities was higher than the pre-learning counterpart mean score at the.05 level of statistical significance.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบทักษะการออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียน ชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนบ้านทุ่งจำเริง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ก่อนและหลังเรียนรู้โดยใช้กิจกรรมแจ๊สแช้นท์

กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนบ้านทุ่งจำเริง ภาคการศึกษา 1 ปีการศึกษา 2567 จำนวน 1 ห้องเรียน จำนวน 20 คน ได้มาจากการเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้กิจกรรมแจ๊สแช้นท์ จำนวน 9 แผน ระยะเวลา 9 ชั่วโมง และ 2) แบบทดสอบทักษะการออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบเครื่องหมาย

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏว่า นักเรียนที่เรียนโดยใช้กิจกรรมแจ๊สแช้นท์มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยหลังการทดลองสูงขึ้นกว่าก่อนการทดลองอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05
