The Creation of a Supplementary Reading Entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District for Grade 7 Students of Banraiwitthaya School in Uthai Thani Province

Abstract

The objectives of this independent study were to 1) create a supplementary reading entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District for Grade 7 students of Banraiwitthaya School, Ban Rai district, Uthai Thani province; and 2) verify quality of the created supplementary reading.The key informants were three experts on Thai language and 10 Grade 7 students, all of whom were purposively selected. The employed study tools were 1) a supplementary reading entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District, 2) a form for the experts to assess the appropriateness of the supplementary reading entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District, and 3) a questionnaire on the student’s opinions toward the supplementary reading entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District. Statistics employed for data analysis were the mean, and standard deviation.The research findings were as follows: 1) the supplementary reading entitled Place Names of Ban Rai District had contents comprising eight chapters: (1) Knowledge Concerning Place Names; (2) General Condition of Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province; (3) Place Names Established after Geographical Characteristics; (4) Place Names Established after the Environmental Characteristics of the Area; (5) Place Names Established after Conspicuous Plant Species; (6) Place Names Established after Occupational Characteristics; (7) Place Names Established after Hearsay, Legend, and Fairy Tales; and (8) Place Names Established after Other Causes; each chapter had illustrations and end-of-chapter activities; and 2) regarding the results of quality verification of the created supplementary reading, it was found that the experts had opinions that the overall appropriateness of the created supplementary reading was at the highest level, and the students also had opinions that the overall appropriateness of the supplementary reading was at the highest level.

การศึกษาค้นคว้าอิสระครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) สร้างหนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่าน เรื่อง ภูมินามอำเภอบ้านไร่ จังหวัดอุทัยธานี สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โรงเรียนบ้านไร่วิทยา อำเภอบ้านไร่ จังหวัดอุทัยธานี และ 2) ตรวจสอบคุณภาพของหนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่านที่สร้างขึ้นผู้ให้ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการสอนภาษาไทย จำนวน 3 คน และนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 จำนวน 10 คน ได้มาโดยการเลือกแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ ได้แก่ 1) หนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่าน เรื่อง ภูมินามอำเภอบ้านไร่ 2) แบบประเมินคุณภาพหนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่าน เรื่อง ภูมินามอำเภอบ้านไร่ สำหรับผู้เชี่ยวชาญ และ 3) แบบสอบถามความคิดเห็นของนักเรียนที่มีต่อหนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่านเรื่อง ภูมินามอำเภอบ้านไร่ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบน-มาตรฐานผลการศึกษาค้นคว้ามีดังนี้ 1) หนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่าน เรื่อง ภูมินามอำเภอบ้านไร่ สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ประกอบด้วยเนื้อหา จำนวน 8 บท ได้แก่ (1) ความรู้เกี่ยวกับภูมินาม (2) สภาพทั่วไปของอำเภอบ้านไร่ จังหวัดอุทัยธานี (3) ภูมินามตั้งตามลักษณะภูมิประเทศ (4) ภูมินาม ตั้งตามลักษณะพื้นที่และสภาพแวดล้อม (5) ภูมินามตั้งตามพันธุ์ไม้ (6) ภูมินามตั้งตามลักษณะการประกอบอาชีพ (7) ภูมินามตั้งตามคำบอกเล่า ตำนาน นิทาน และ (8) ภูมินามตั้งนามด้วยสาเหตุอื่น ๆ โดยแต่ละบทจะมีภาพประกอบและท้ายเรื่องจะมีกิจกรรมท้ายเรื่อง และ 2) ผลการตรวจสอบคุณภาพของหนังสือส่งเสริมการอ่านที่สร้างขึ้น พบว่า ผู้เชี่ยวชาญมีความคิดเห็นว่าหนังสือดังกล่าวในภาพรวมมีความเหมาะสมอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด และนักเรียนก็มีความเห็นว่าหนังสือดังกล่าวมีความเหมาะสมอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด
