Extension for Quality of Mangosteen Production of Farmers in Kuraburi District Phang Nga Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study 1) the basic personal, social, and economic conditions of farmers 2)knowledge, knowledge resources, and opinions regarding the quality mangosteen production of farmers 3) quality mangosteen production conditions, the adoption of technology, needs, problems, and suggestions on quality mangosteen production of farmers 4) supply change of quality mangosteen production of farmers 5)internal environment, external environment, and extension guidelines regarding quality mangosteen production of farmers. This research was mixed-method research.The population in this study was 116 mangosteen production farmers in Kuraburi district who had registered as farmers with the Department of Agricultural Extension in 2022. Data were collected from the entire population by conducting interviews. The descriptive statistics used in the analysis include percentage, minimum value, maximum value, mean, standard deviation, and ranking. Additionally, a focus group discussion was conducted with 15 representatives of farmers. The analysis was performed through data categorization and SWOT analysis. The results of the research revealed that 1) farmers had an average age of 50.09 years old, had an average mangosteen production area of 3.80 Rai, had an average mangosteen productivity of 435.62 kilogram/Rai/year, and earned an average income from mangosteen products of 13,559.66 Baht/Rai. 2) Regarding the knowledge regarding quality mangosteen production, farmers answered the questions correctly 8.70 out of 15 on average. Most of the farmers received the knowledge from online media. Overall, the opinions toward quality mangosteen production are at a high level, especially in grading the products for distribution at higher prices. 3) Most of the farmers did mixed plant farming and applied 15-15-15 formula fertilizer in the preparation of the plant fertility. The severity of disease and pests, overall, was at a low level. Farmers did not use any method of disease and pest control, harvested during the period of bloodline fruits, and sold the products to local collectors. For the adoption of technology in quality mangosteen production, farmers practiced 8.61 out of 19 questions on average. They needed support at the highest level on the price guarantee aspect. The problems, overall, were at a moderate level with the most problematic issue on knowledge. The overall suggestions were at a high level. 4) In the upstream process, farmers apply a 15-5-20 fertilizer formula to nourish the trees, induce flowering, and enhance fruit development. Pest control for mangosteen is carried out using chemical agents. In the midstream process, the produce meets GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) standards and undergoes value-added processing. In the downstream process, the products are sold through middlemen. 5)The key strength was that farmers formed a group of collaborative farming. The key weakness was the lack of knowledge and skills in selecting the quality and size of mangosteens. The key opportunity was that the government agency came in to support knowledge and factors of production along with selling extension. The key threat was the fluctuation of the product price. The extension guidelines in quality mangosteen production included the knowledge extension on quality mangosteen production, the extension of group strengthening to increase the leverage on the price of the products, and the value-adding of products during the oversupply period in the form of processing.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) สภาพพื้นฐานบุคคล สภาพสังคม และสภาพเศรษฐกิจของเกษตรกร 2) ความรู้ แหล่งความรู้ ความคิดเห็นในการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพของเกษตรกร 3) สภาพการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพ การยอมรับเทคโนโลยี ความต้องการ ปัญหา และข้อเสนอแนะการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพของเกษตรกร 4) โซ่อุปทานการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพของเกษตรกร 5) สภาพแวดล้อมภายใน ภายนอก และแนวทางในการส่งเสริมการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพของเกษตรกร การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบผสมวิธี ประชากรในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ คือเกษตรกรที่ผู้ปลูกมังคุดในอำเภอคุระบุรีที่ขึ้นทะเบียนเกษตรกรของกรมส่งเสริมการเกษตร ปีพ.ศ. 2565 จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 116 ราย โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากประชากรทั้งหมด จัดเก็บข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ คือสถิติพรรณนา ได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าต่ำสุด ค่าสูงสุด ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการจัดอันดับ และทำการสนทนากลุ่มผู้แทนเกษตรกรจำนวน 15 ราย วิเคราะห์โดยการจัดหมวดหมู่ข้อมูล และวิเคราะห์สภาพแวดล้อมภายในและภายนอกผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) เกษตรกรมีอายุเฉลี่ย 50.09 ปี พื้นที่ปลูกมังคุดเฉลี่ย 3.80 ไร่ ปริมาณผลผลิตมังคุดเฉลี่ย 435.62 กิโลกรัม/ไร่/ปี รายได้จากผลผลิตมังคุดเฉลี่ย 13,559.66 บาท/ไร่ 2) มีความรู้เรื่องการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพ เกษตรกรตอบถูกเฉลี่ย 8.70 ข้อ จากคำถาม 15 ข้อ เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่รับความรู้จากสื่อออนไลน์ ความคิดเห็นต่อการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยเฉพาะในประเด็นการคัดเกรดผลผลิตทำให้จำหน่ายผลผลิตได้ราคาดีขึ้น 3) เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ปลูกแบบสวนผสม ใช้ปุ๋ยสูตร 15-15-15 ในการเตรียมความสมบูรณ์ของต้น ความรุนแรงของโรคและแมลงศัตรูพืช ในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับน้อย เกษตรกรไม่ใช้วิธีใดในการป้องกันกำจัดโรคและแมลง เก็บเกี่ยวผลระยะสายเลือด จำหน่ายให้ผู้รวบรวมในท้องถิ่น การยอมรับเทคโนโลยีการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพ เกษตรกรปฏิบัติเฉลี่ย 8.61 ข้อ จากทั้งหมด 19 ข้อ มีความต้องการด้านการสนับสนุนมากที่สุดโดยเฉพาะด้านการประกันราคาผลผลิต ปัญหาภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง โดยมีปัญหาด้านความรู้มากที่สุด ข้อเสนอแนะภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยมีข้อเสนอแนะด้านการสนับสนุนมากที่สุด 4) ต้นน้ำ เกษตรกรมีการใส่ปุ๋ยสูตร 15-5-20 ในการบำรุงต้น ชักนำการออกดอกและบำรุงผล มีการกำจัดศัตรูมังคุดโดยการใช้สารเคมี กลางน้ำ ได้รับมาตรฐาน GAP และมีการแปรรูปเพิ่มมูลค่าผลผลิต ปลายน้ำ จำหน่ายผ่านพ่อค้าคนกลาง 5) จุดแข็งที่สำคัญ เกษตรกรมีการรวมกลุ่มเป็นกลุ่มแปลงใหญ่ จุดอ่อนที่สำคัญ ขาดความรู้และทักษะในการคัดคุณภาพและขนาด โอกาสที่สำคัญ หน่วยงานรัฐเข้ามาสนับสนุนความรู้และปัจจัยการผลิตพร้อมทั้งส่งเสริมการขาย อุปสรรคที่สำคัญ ความผันผวนของราคาสินค้า แนวทางในการผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพ คือ ส่งเสริมความรู้การผลิตมังคุดคุณภาพ ส่งเสริมความเข้มแข็งกลุ่มเพื่อเพิ่มอำนาจการต่อรองราคาผลผลิต และเพิ่มมูลค่าผลผลิตในช่วงผลผลิตล้นตลาดโดยการแปรรูป
