Bedridden Patients’ Oral Health Care Handbook for Dental Auxiliaries Working at Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals under Sam Khok Hospital Network

Abstract

Taking care of the oral health of bedridden patients at the primary care level, dental auxiliaries must perform their duties correctly according to their roles and responsibilities as well as professional standards. The practices have to be consistent with the context of subdistrict health promoting hospitals of the Sam Khok Hospital health service network. This study aimed to prepare a handbook for oral health care of bedridden patients for dental auxiliaries working in the network’s health promoting hospitals.The handbook preparation involved the collection and reviews of theoretical knowledge, principles, guidelines, and practices on oral health care of dental auxiliaries for bedridden patients according to professional standards, from relevant documents and research papers, the drafting of the handbook, the correctness checking of the handbook contents (validity value = 1.0) and the trial of the finalized handbook.As a result of the study, the prepared handbook consists of Chapter 1: Principles, necessity, and objectives of the handbook; Chapter 2: Roles, duties, professional standards, and principles of oral health care for bedridden patients by dental auxiliaries working at Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals; Chapter 3: Steps and practices before providing oral health care for bedridden patients; and Chapter 4: Steps and practices during and after oral health care provision for bedridden patients. As for the handbook trial, all the dental auxiliaries who have used it can follow the handbook correctly, be confident and able to take care of the oral health of bedridden patients correctly and completely according to professional standards, and be able to give advice on how to take care of the oral health of bedridden patients to caregivers and family members correctly. They all are satisfied with the oral health care handbook for bedridden patients.

การดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงในระดับปฐมภูมิของทันตาภิบาลจะต้องปฏิบัติงานได้อย่างถูกต้องตามบทบาทหน้าที่ และมาตรฐานวิชาชีพ ที่สอดคล้องกับบริบท ของโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบล ของเครือข่ายบริการสุขภาพโรงพยาบาลสามโคก การศึกษาค้นคว้าอิสระนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อจัดทำคู่มือการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงสำหรับ ทันตาภิบาลที่ปฏิบัติงานในโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลของเครือข่ายบริการสุขภาพโรงพยาบาลสามโคก การจัดทำคู่มือดังกล่าว ได้ศึกษา ค้นคว้า รวบรวม ทบทวนความรู้ทางทฤษฎี หลักการ แนวทาง และการปฏิบัติงานการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงสำหรับทันตาภิบาลตามมาตรฐานวิชาชีพ รวมถึงศึกษาค้นคว้างานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง และจัดทำร่างคู่มือให้ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ ตรวจสอบความตรงของเนื้อหาเอกสารคู่มือ มีค่าความตรงคือ 1.0 และทดลองใช้คู่มือ ผลการศึกษาได้คู่มือประกอบด้วย บทที่ 1 หลักการ ความจำเป็นและวัตถุประสงค์ของการจัดทำคู่มือ บทที่ 2 บทบาทหน้าที่ และมาตรฐานวิชาชีพ หลักการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงสำหรับทันตาภิบาลที่ปฏิบัติงานโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบล บทที่ 3 ขั้นตอน และการปฏิบัติก่อนการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียง บทที่ 4 ขั้นตอนและการการปฏิบัติ ขณะการดูแล และหลังการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียง ผลของการใช้คู่มือพบว่าทันตาภิบาลผู้ใช้เครื่องมือทุกคนสามารถปฏิบัติตามคู่มือได้อย่างถูกต้อง มีความมั่นใจและสามารถดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงได้อย่างถูกต้อง ครบถ้วน ตามมาตรฐานวิชาชีพ และสามารถให้คำแนะนำ การปฏิบัติการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียงให้แก่ผู้ดูแล รวมถึงสมาชิกในครอบครัวได้ อย่างถูกต้อง รวมทั้งมีความพึงพอใจจากการใช้คู่มือการดูแลสุขภาพช่องปากผู้ป่วยติดเตียง
