Heroines created a nation – A Nation created heroines: The making of nationalism on Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon’s heroism in Phibunsongkhram’s period.

Abstract

The objectives of this independent study are [1] To study and analyze the heroic deeds of Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon as well as the history of these two heroines who are related to local leadership in local politics and central politics in Bangkok through historiography, historical writings, literature, and plays.[2] To study the process of creating nationalism in the heroic deeds of Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon as national heroines, a process that occurred during the period of Field Marshal Phibunsongkram. [3] To study and analyze the perception of the heroic deeds of Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon among local and central government and [4] to study and analyze the political context that affects the perception of the stories of the two heroines of Thalang and the writing of historical works about the heroic deeds of Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon.The research method is the qualitative using a historical study method. The data is presented using descriptive analysis as a guideline for contextual analysis applying the concept of nationalism, the political analysis approach with the concept of history in analyzing and studying historical documents to understand the political context that led to the writing a history about the heroic deeds of Thalang heroines.The study found that the creation of nationalism in the heroic deeds of Thalang heroines during the period of Field Marshal Phibunsongkhram has achieved the goals the government desired, which are as follows: [1] Studying historiography, writings, literature, and plays about the heroic deeds of these two heroines reflects the nationalist ideas that occur in those works. [2] The process of creating nationalism in the story makes the heroics of Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon an example of fierce patriotism and promotes military nationalism as national heroines and commoner heroines competing with heroes from monarchy as a political context during the tenure of Field Marshal Phibunsongkhram. [3] The perception of heroic stories of heroines by central and local people reflects the power relations between Bangkok and the cities as far away as Thalang in each era, there is a connection with the creation of nationalism in the heroism of Thalang's heroines and [4] The political context of each era, especially in the period of Phibunsongkhram, affected the perception of the stories of the two heroines as well as historical works in the manner of creating nationalism in heroic deeds to form the shape of politics which serves the governing authority.

การศึกษาค้นคว้าอิสระนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ [1] เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์วีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทร ตลอดจนประวัติของสองวีรสตรีที่มีความเกี่ยวเนื่องกับการเป็นผู้นำท้องถิ่นของการเมืองท้องถิ่น และการเมืองของส่วนกลางที่กรุงเทพมหานคร ผ่านประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์ งานเขียนทางประวัติศาสตร์ วรรณกรรม บทละคร [2] เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการสร้างความเป็นชาตินิยม ในวีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทร ในฐานะวีรสตรีของชาติ อันเป็นกระบวนการที่เกิดขึ้นในสมัยจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม [3] เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์การรับรู้ เรื่องราววีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทรของประชาชนในท้องถิ่น และส่วนกลาง และ [4] เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์บริบททางการเมือง ที่ส่งผลต่อการรับรู้เรื่องราวของสองวีรสตรีเมืองถลาง และการเขียนประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์เกี่ยวกับวีรกรรมท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทร วิธีการวิจัย เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาทางประวัติศาสตร์ และได้ทำการนำเสนอเนื้อหาด้วยการวิเคราะห์ในเชิงพรรณนา เป็นแนวทางการวิเคราะห์เชิงบริบท ซึ่งได้ดำเนินการโดยการใช้แนวคิดชาตินิยม แนววิเคราะห์ทางการเมืองด้วยแนวคิดประวัติศาสตร์ ทำการวิเคราะห์ ศึกษาจากเอกสารทางประวัติศาสตร์ เพื่อให้ทราบถึงบริบททางการเมืองที่ก่อให้เกิดการเขียนประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์เกี่ยวกับวีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทร ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การสร้างชาตินิยมในวีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทรในสมัยจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม ได้บรรลุเป้าประสงค์ที่รัฐบาลต้องการ ซึ่งมีดังนี้ [1] การศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์ งานเขียน วรรณกรรม และบทละครที่เกี่ยวกับวีรกรรมของสองวีรสตรี สะท้อนแนวคิดชาตินิยมที่เกิดขึ้นในงานประพันธ์เหล่านั้น [2] กระบวนการสร้างแนวคิดชาตินิยมในเรื่องราวนั้นทำให้วีรกรรมของท้าวเทพกระษัตรีและท้าวศรีสุนทรเป็นแบบอย่างของความรักชาติที่รุนแรง และการส่งเสริมชาตินิยมทางทหาร ในฐานะวีรสตรีของชาติและวีรสตรีสามัญชนที่แข่งขันกับวีรชนที่เป็นกษัตริย์ อันเป็นบริบททางการเมืองสมัยจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม [3] การรับรู้เรื่องราววีรกรรมของวีรสตรีของประชาชนส่วนกลางและท้องถิ่นสะท้อนความสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจระหว่างกรุงเทพมหานครฯ กับเมืองห่างไกลอย่างถลาง ในแต่ละยุคสมัยมีความเกี่ยวข้องสัมพันธ์กับการสร้างความเป็นชาตินิยมในวีรกรรมของวีรสตรีเมืองถลาง [4] บริบททางการเมืองในแต่ละยุคสมัย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในสมัยจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม ส่งผลต่อการรับรู้เรื่องราวของสองวีรสตรีรวมถึงงานประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์ ในลักษณะการสร้างความเป็นชาตินิยมในวีรกรรม เข้าไปก่อรูปลักษณ์การเมืองเพื่อรับใช้ผู้มีอำนาจการปกครอง
