dc.description.abstractalternative | The objectives of this research were to study (1) organizational commitment level of personnel in Department of Health (2) factors affecting organizational commitment of personnel in Department of Health (3) appropriate approach to strengthen organizational commitment of personnel in Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. Population included 1,585 level 7 and lower personnel in Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, in both central and regional offices. Samples of 320 were random applying stratification sampling method. Instrument used was questionnaire with reliability level at 0.8824. Statistical tools employed were frequency, mean, standard deviation, coefficient correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Research result revealed that (1) organizational commitment of personnel of Department of Health was in high level, commitment component with highest mean was feeling of obligation while component with lowest mean was pride of being part of organization (2) three factors found affecting organizational commitment with .05 level of significance were organization stability and credibility, challenge of assignment, and opportunity of growth and advancement, respectively (3) appropriate approach to strengthen organizational commitment included 1) the organization should encourage the awareness of roles and responsibilities among officials, so consequently their cooperation would be fostered 2) there should be an improvement in compensation to match staff competence so to increase their positive feelings to organization and 3) the organization should arrange interaction program to promote official relations; and 4) internal administration should be improved while official development programs should be provided continuously in order to promote the feelings of growth and advancement in their career | en_US |
