The Effects of Project-Based Learning on English Speaking Skill for Grade 11 Students at the Schools under the Department of Local Administration, Phuket Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) compare English-speaking skill of grade 11 students before and after learning with Project-Based Learning; 2) compare English-speaking skill after project-based Learning grade 11 students to 60 percent criterion; and (3) study the satisfaction of grade 11 students towards English learning with project-based learning. The research sample consisted of 37 of grade 11 students studying in the first semester of the academic year 2023 at the schools under the Department of Local Administration, Phuket Province, obtained by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were 1) project-based learning lesson plans, 9 plans for 18 hours; 2) English speaking test and (3) the questionnaire on satisfaction towards English learning with project-based learning. The data were analyzed by mean, standard division, percentage, and T-test.The results of this research were revealed as follows: 1) the students’ English-speaking skill after learning with Project-Based Learning was higher than before at .05 level of statistical significance; 2) the students’ English-speaking skill after learning with Project-Based Learning was higher than 60 percent criterion at .05 level of statistical significance; and 3) students’ satisfaction towards English learning with Project-Based Learning was at the very satisfied level.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เปรียบเทียบทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ก่อนและหลังการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบโครงงานเป็นฐาน 2) เปรียบเทียบทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 หลังการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบโครงงานเป็นฐานกับเกณฑ์ร้อยละ 60 และ 3) ศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนเทศบาลเมืองภูเก็ต จังหวัดภูเก็ต ที่มีต่อการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษโดยการสอนแบบโครงงานเป็นฐานกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โรงเรียนเทศบาลเมืองภูเก็ต จังหวัดภูเก็ต ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปีการศึกษา 2566 จำนวน 37 คน โดยวิธีการสุ่มแบบกลุ่ม เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบโครงงานเป็นฐาน จำนวน 9 แผน 18 ชั่วโมง 2) แบบทดสอบทักษะการพูด และ 3) แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนที่มีต่อการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษโดยการสอนแบบโครงงานเป็นฐาน สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ร้อยละ และการทดสอบค่าทีผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนหลังเรียน โดยการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบโครงงานเป็นฐานสูงกว่าก่อนเรียน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 2) ทักษะการพูดภาษาอังกฤษหลังเรียนแบบโครงงานเป็นฐานสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ร้อยละ 60 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และ 3) นักเรียนมีความพึงพอใจต่อการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษโดยการสอนแบบโครงงานเป็นฐานอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด
