Educational Investment on Higher Vocational Certificate Between Agriculture and Industry of Government Vocational Education Institutions in the Northeastern Region.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the costs and returns on educational investment, as well as compare the relative advantage between agricultural and industry disciplines in the public vocational education in the northeastern regions, Thailand. The population of this research was 54,697 students of the High Vocational Certificate Program from 90 government vocational education institutions in the total of 19 provinces in the northeastern region. The sample were 430 students in academic year 2021. The size was calculated by the Taro Yamane method at the significant level of 0.05. The research instruments were questionnaires with a purposive sampling approach. The analyses used descriptive statistics and Regression model with the General Method of Moment in order to estimate the costs and the returns of educational investment.The findings indicated that the majority of the sample was male, 19 years old, and currently in second year, the mainstream income came from parent. Besides, the average direct costs per month for the agricultural disciplines stood at baht 6,453.30, while those of the industry disciplines were 10,432.72, including tuition fees and related educational expenses. The average indirect costs per month for the agriculture disciplines were baht 3,109.43, whereas the industry disciplines were baht 4,697.53, which encompasses living expenses and other expenses. As for the expected net return, that the net returns for the agriculture disciplines was at baht 17,738.79 baht per month, while those of the industrial disciplines was at 19,767.82 baht per month; the difference was statistically significant at 0.05.

การวิจัยนี้ดำเนินการภายใต้วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาต้นทุนการลงทุนทางการศึกษาระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูง และ 2) เปรียบเทียบผลตอบแทนการลงทุนทางการศึกษาระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูง ประเภทวิชาเกษตรกรรมกับอุตสาหกรรมของสถานศึกษาอาชีวศึกษารัฐบาลในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือประชากรในการทำวิจัยครั้งนี้ คือ นักศึกษาระดับประกาศนียบัตรวิชาชีพชั้นสูงของสถานศึกษาอาชีวศึกษารัฐบาลภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ 19 จังหวัด จำนวน 90 แห่ง รวมทั้งสิ้น 54,697 คน กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักศึกษาในสาขาวิชาเกษตรกรรมกับวิชาอุตสาหกรรม ประจำปีการศึกษา 2564 จำนวน 430 คน ซึ่งได้จากการคำนวณตามวิธีของ Taro Yamane ณ ค่าความคลาดเคลื่อนที่ 0.05 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถาม สุ่มตัวอย่างด้วยวิธีแบบเจาะจง วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนา และแบบจำลองถดถอยด้วยวิธีโมเมนต์ทั่วไป เพื่อประมาณค่าการลงทุนและผลตอบแทนของการทางการศึกษาผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) กลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย อายุ 19 ปี อยู่ในชั้นปีที่ 2 โดยมีแหล่งรายได้จากผู้ปกครอง มีการลงทุนทางตรง ทางการศึกษาในสาขาวิชาเกษตรเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 6,453.30 บาทต่อเดือน ขณะที่สาขาวิชาอุตสาหกรรมเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 10,432.72 บาทต่อเดือน โดยประกอบด้วย ค่าใช้จ่ายในการเรียน และค่าใช้จ่ายเกี่ยวเนื่องกับการเรียน ส่วนการลงทุนทางอ้อม ทางการศึกษาในสาขาวิชาเกษตรเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 3,109.43 บาทต่อเดือน และสาขาวิชาอุตสาหกรรมเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 4,697.53 บาทต่อเดือน ประกอบด้วย ค่าครองชีพ ในระหว่างเรียน และค่าใช้จ่ายอื่น ๆ และ 2) ผลตอบแทนสุทธิที่คาดว่าจะได้รับ พบว่า สาขาวิชาเกษตรมีผลตอบแทนสุทธิอยู่ที่ 17,738.79 บาทต่อเดือน ขณะที่สาขาวิชาอุตสาหกรรมมีผลตอบแทนสุทธิอยู่ที่ 19,767.82 บาทต่อเดือน ซึ่งสูงกว่าสาขาวิชาเกษตร อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ 0.05
